Turan Sahinkaya’s commitment to help make the world a better place has
expanded into partnering on a patent for an optimal control system for electric
motor driven vehicles.
Palo Alto, California, September 7, 2009 --
Turan Sahinkaya has worked with his
father, Dr. Yilmaz Sahinkaya, on gaining a U.S. patent acceptance for the
Optimal Control System for an Electric Motor Driven Vehicle. This idea is
currently being widely discussed among the Top Five vehicle producing
manufacturers in the world.
According to Turan Sahinkaya, “Operating conditions experienced by a
battery-operated vehicle driven by one or more permanent magnet or separately
excited DC motors are sensed and converted into a control signal.
“The control signal is applied to a pulse width modulator which controls the
conduction periods of SCR's in such a way that the average motor armature
voltage is proportional to the control signal. In a motoring mode the pulse
width modulator operates SCR's to supply current from the battery to the motor
armature circuit,” adds Turan Sahinkaya.
“In a generating mode the pulse width modulator operates SCR's to supply current
from the motor armature circuit to the battery. This occurs when the vehicle is
moving downhill or is decelerating on a level terrain. The required mode of
operation is accomplished automatically by the action of a motor armature
current direction sensing circuit,” concludes
Turan Sahinkaya.
Turan Sahinkaya’s father, Dr. Yilmaz Sahinkaya, earned a Masters in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Dr. Sahinkaya earned
his Doctorate degree from the world-renowned Caltech University in Pasadena,
California.
Turan Sahinkaya is a Senior Manager of Pricing in the Global Complex Pricing

savings of $1,000,000 to the company. Prior to his time with AT&T, Turan
Sahinkaya worked as a Staff Consultant for some of the world’s most recognized
industry leaders, as well as Fortune 100 companies such as Accenture and Oracle
Corporation.
Turan Sahinkaya is a graduate of University of California at Berkeley with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, where he proudly represented his University
playing 3 years Varsity soccer and 1 year of Varsity Rugby. He was part of the
championship rugby team that won the NCAA, defeating Army. Turan Sahinkaya went
on to earn a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist
University in Dallas.
